Karen James (Soror Sa.'.Ra.'.) was born in San Diego, California. She took her Minerval initiation in 1981 EV and is currently serving the Order in her capacity as High Priestess of Proserpente Chapter Rose+Croix in Southern California and as a Bishop in the E.G.C. She and her husband Doug have been celebrating the Gnostic Mass (Liber XV) at The Sanctuary of Babalon by The Sea since Spring 1984 EV. Karen was honored to speak at National Ordo Templi Orientis Conference (NOTOCON) in Portland 1999 EV and again in 2003 EV. She chaired NOTOCON in Long Beach, California in 2001 EV. In addition to her integral role in the growth and development of the Order and living her life by the tenets of Thelema for over 20 years, she has been at the center of discovery and interpretive development of the re-creation of The Ancient Mysteries of Eleusis as presented yearly in Southern California. She currently resides in San Clemente with her husband Doug. She has two grown children and three granddaughters, ages 5, 10, and 13.
