Temple Layout

Just inside the Temple door is a human sculptural installation which consists of a writing desk, a man seated at said desk posed with a quill pen as if writing The Book of The Law. Said Liber AL has been formatted to fit onto a single sheet of paper. Behind him to his left stands a dark figure representing Aiwass.

In the East on the superaltar is a shrine to The Master Therion, arranged with as many images of Aleister Crowley as can be found, candles, a goblet of some form of strong drink, a small plate with 6 cakes of light, oysters, and spicy curry on a bed of rice, (This must be spiced moreso than the curry being served at the feast) and a black cigar. On the lower level of the super-altar are enough empty glasses that each congregant and operator may have one. Veiling the superaltar is a thin white scrim upon which the digital projector will be trained from its place in the center of the temple. In front of the superaltar, where the dais would normally be, is a throne.

Thrones are also arranged at the Northern, Western, and Southern Quarters, and decorated to reflect the respective deity which holds given quarter.

At the center of the Temple is a double-cubic altar, upon which is an Arabic oil lamp, two unlit votive candles, a bowl of salt-water, and a censer of incense. Hidden within the altar is a black shroud, folded.

Directly in front of this is a smaller altar upon which is a cauldron filled with an intoxicating fluid. It should be small enough not to obstruct use of the primary altar.

Officers

People’s Officer: Dressed in street clothes, enters the temple with the people. Is responsible for banishing the temple, leading the people in circumambulation/dance, and martialing the congregants in libation

Yogic Stablizers

• A.'.C.'.: Is dressed in dark clothing beneath a dark shroud. Sits at a writing desk holding a feather quill pen as if writing The Book Of The Law. Holds this pose throughout.
• Aiwass: Is dressed in dark clothing beneath a dark shroud. Stands behind A.'.C.'. to his left in the Dieu Garde.

This human sculptural installation not only reminds operants and congregants of the foundation of our tradition, but energetically keeps the operation grounded to this established foundation.

• Most Illiminous Lighting Technician: Is responsible for, uhh.. flipping a fucking lightswitch once in a while, what did you expect?
• Video/Audio Technician: Mans the soundtrack loops and changes the track on the DVD projector at the appropriate times. This most important and seemingly complex juggling act actually shouldn’t prove to hard, and will be engineered to make this as easy as possible.

Chief Operants

• Therion: Is dressed in a black Tau robe and yellow tabard. He is responsible for consecrating the temple with incense and fire, and holds the quarter of the East.

• Nuit: Is dressed Nuitly as she fucking sees fit. The costume described in Liber XV is recommended. She is responsible for purification of the temple with water and salt, and holds the quarter of the North.

• Babalon: Is dressed Babalon-ish, as she fucking sees fit. Red red red is encouraged. She is responsible for performing the Star Sapphire (Book of Lies: Psalm 36) and reciting “The Way to Succeed and The Way to Suck Eggs” (Book of Lies: Psalm 69) jointly with Hadit, and holds the quarter of the West.

• Hadit: Is dressed Haditly, as he fucking sees fit. Red Red Red is encouraged. He is responsible for leading the congregants in a group inspired reading of “The Waratah Blossoms” (Book of Lies: Psalm 49). [Missals will be provided for all]. Also, for performing the Star Sapphire and reciting Psalm 69 jointly with Babalon. Holds the quarter of the South.

• Ra Hoor Khuit: You’ll just have to wait and see. Probably a black sarong and red open robe, exposing the chest. Is responsible for performing Liber Samekh (See: Book IV), and burning The Book of The Law, done jointly with Laylah. Also, dying and being reborn at the hands of Hadit/Nuit, and Laylah, respectively.

• Laylah: As she sees fit. Lasciviously in Black and Purple is suggested. Bare-breast decorated with a circle-and-cross also suggested. (See: Book of Lies, Psalm 77) Is responsible for performing performing Liber Samekh (See: Book IV), and burning The Book of The Law, done jointly with Ra Hoor Khuit. Also, leading the congregants in divining thru group scrying.

Visual Projections

Will be provided by our own Fr.'. Ka’A’Rik, and are going to knock our fucking socks on our ass (wait, is that a real sentence?)

Music

Loops provided on loan from the Cult of ZIR, let’s see him try and get them back. Other live instrumentalists (bass guitar, percussion, handdrums, vocals) will SUPPLIMENT THE GIVEN SOUNDTRACK, NOT TURN THIS INTO SOME HIPPIE FUCKING HAM SESSION, and will be the driving force behind the circumambulatory ecstasy bit leading up to the ritual’s peak. Their musical subtlety and restraint is much appreciated and will be rewarded with a point in aforementioned musical section where they can CRAZY BOOM BOOM GO NUTS and DISCORDANTLY APESHIT to signal the next stage of the ritual. Thanks for putting up with my snobbery and persnickety nature regarding this.

Pre-entry

All aforementioned participants (excepting People’s Officer, who is outside behaving as one who is not an operator in the ceremony) join hands around central altar and intone:

Therion lights the oil lamp on central altar.

Lighting Technician takes his place by lightswitch. Kills all lights.

A.'.C.'. and Aiwass take their places at writing desk,

Therion and Nuit take their places at the NorthWest and SouthWest corners of the central altar, respectively.

Laylah takes her place, standing in front of the black pillar of severity behind the white scrim of the superaltar. She veils her face in black.

Musicians and A/V tech take their places in the NorthWest corner of the temple.

All other operants exit temple to Narnia to await their time to enter.

VIDEO CUE: An empty Circle

AUDIO-CUE: First loop is begun (A throbbing low-end drone).

Aiwass gives a knock on Temple door, opens it just barely, to signal the congregants to enter, then returns quickly to his place before anyone gets inside. No movement must be seen of him.

Nuit and Therion gesture to congregants to be seated in circular fashion around the edges of the working area. Benches provided for those who have issues with sitting on the floor for a long time period.

As congregants enter, one by one, they kiss Liber AL with their intent, if they so will.

People’s Officer is the last to enter the Temple, and is in charge of locking exterior door before doing so. When he enters the Temple, he closes and locks the Temple door as well.

Instead of sitting, hopefully to the surprise of the other participants, he takes his place in front of the central altar, facing east.

MUSICAL CUE: Ambient gong drones.

Opening

People's Officer banishes temple via the Star Ruby (Book of Lies, Psalm 25).

Note: As People’s Officer makes his way widdershins to each quarter in so doing, Nuit and Therion rotate with him, taking their respective corners behind him, so as to form a triangle pointing the direction of the quarter in question. They make the Sign of the Enterer with him, at these quarters, without speaking. They make the N.O.X. signs, crying IO PAN! With him. Otherwise, they stand in the Dieu Garde, silent.

People’s Officer, on completing the Star Ruby, turns west to face Nuit and Therion, lights the two votives, and hands one to each, one at a time. When this is done, he takes the oil lamp in both hands. Simultaneously they raise these into the air, crying DO WHAT THOU WILT SHALL BE THE WHOLE OF THE LAW!

MUSICAL CUE: Gong Strikes 6 times.

AUDIO CUE: Second Loop is begun (throbbing drone plus heartbeat).

They set the lighted implements back upon the altar.

People’s Officer finds a place to sit among the congregants and does so.

Nuit takes up the saltwater from the central altar:

“Let the salt of the earth admonish the water, to bear the virtue of the Great Sea. Mother be thou adored!” (Liber XV)

... and sprinkles the Temple widdershins to purify it and the congregants. Returning to her place, she sets the saltwater back upon the altar.

Therion puts incense on censer:

“Let the fire and the air make sweet the world. Father, be thou adored!” (Liber XV)

... and censes the Temple deosil to consecrate it and the congregants. Returning to his place, he sets the censer back upon the altar.

They make their way to their respective thrones. Therion in the East, Nuit in the North.

Enter Hadit, in a regal fashion, from Narnia. He takes his place at central altar facing east.

VIDEO CUE: The Star of Babalon (The congregants have been informed that this is the signal for the group reading of "The Waratah Blossoms" from their provided Missals) LIGHTING CUE: Lights come up just enough that reading is possible without obscuring the projection, if possible.

Hadit recites "Waratah Blossoms" (Book of Lies, Psalm 49)

At “Seven letters hath her holiest name and it is BABALON…” Babalon enters the temple from Narnia. She makes her way to the Eastern side of the central altar, facing west, opposite Hadit.

LIGHTING CUE: The lights are darkened as she makes it to her place.

MUSICAL CUE: Bass Player begins ambient overtones via fret harmonics etc. Restrained and not too busy, please.

VIDEO CUE: The Unicursal Hexagram, Blue Ascending, Red Descending (Book of Lies: Psalm 69)

MUSICAL CUE: Vocalists give a long wavering choral-type note at the appearance of the Hexagram on the screen.

Hadit and Babalon jointly invoke by the Star Sapphire (Book of Lies, Psalm 36), like so:

Together, facing each other, they give the signs of N.O.X (Puer, Vir, Puella, Mulier)

Babalon turns to face East, takes a step to the right so as to align with the SouthEast corner of the central altar. Hadit comes forward to stand to her left, also facing East, aligned with the NorthEast corner of the altar.

Hadit makes Holy Hexagram

They go around to face South:

They return to the central altar, Hadit now in East facing west, Babalon now in West facing East.

They make the ROSY CROSS and recite Psalm 69:

Plunge from the height, O God, and interlock with Man!

The Red Triangle is the descending tongue of grace.

The Blue Triangle is the ascending tongue of prayer.

This Interchange, the Double Gift of Tongues, the Word of Double Power – ABRAHADABRA! – is the sign of the GREAT WORK, for the GREAT WORK is accomplished in Silence.

[a momentary pause]

This Work also eats up itself, accomplishes its own end, nourishes the worker, leaves no seed, is perfect in itself.

Little Children, love one another!

They each take one of the votives up from the altar, and interlocking arms, they put the votives to their lips as if taking a long drink of the light. (CAREFUL DON’T BURN YOUR LIPS PLEASE, OKAY?!?!)

They then lift the two votives into the air and say:

They set the votives back down onto the altar.

They make the L.V.X. Signs (Isis Mourning, Apophis/Typhon, Osiris Risen) and make their way to their respective thrones, Hadit in the South, Babalon in the West.

Ra Hoor Khuit charges in defiantly, hastily rushing to his place in front of the altar.

(this all happens very quickly)

LIGHTING CUE: Darkness

[SILENCE]

AUDIO CUE: Fifth Loop (Harsher ambient drones with intermittent spasmolytics)

MUSICAL CUE: Gong drones with occasional double-mallet rolls and clangs to punctuate speech. Occasional intermittent handdrum phrases to do the same. Intermittent vocal shrieks and yelps and weirdness. Although more lively, please keep restraint in mind, letting the soundtrack lead.

Ra Hoor Khuit: (brashly circling the Temple, interacting with congregants) I am the Lord of Thebes and I the inspired forth-speaker of Mentu, for me unveils the veiled sky, the self-slain Ankh-f-n-Khonsu! Whose words are truth! I invoke, I greet thy presence, oh Ra Hoor Khuit! He circles back to altar in saying this, reaching his place at the mention of the name Ra Hoor Khuit.

MUSICAL CUE: Gong strikes 6 times.

Ra Hoor Khuit: (raising his arms) BEHOLD!

THE SUBLIME AND SUPREME SEPTENARY IN ITS MATURE MAGICAL MANIFESTATION THROUGH MATTER: AS IT IS WRITTEN: AN HE-GOAT ALSO! Laylah. (Book of Lies: Psalm 77)

MUSICAL CUE: Silence. AUDIO CUE: back to Third Loop

Laylah lifts the dark veil from her face, steps thru the sheer scrim of the super-altar, passing Therion on his left, touches his shoulder. She makes her way to her place at the East of the central altar, facing West, opposite Ra Hoor Khuit.

MUSICAL CUE: Sultry slow bass groove. Dark and seductive, not too funky. Drums follow suit.

They join hands and circle the altar widdershins, slowly and proudly, for a stretch of time that seems adequate.

MUSICAL CUE: The groove ends when they return to their places at the altar. AUDIO CUE: back to Fifth Loop

Thus begins their joint performance of LIBER SAMEKH (gasp!): VIDEO CUE: Fr.’. Ka’A’Rik has full license to Do What He Wilt with this section, video-wise. I’m sure it’ll be great and look forward to the surprise. --- Together:

And cries:

Nuit: Thou Goddess of Beauty and Love, whom Satan, beholding, desireth! The Fathers, male-female, desire Thee!

Hadit takes his place East of the altar, facing West. Laylah takes hers West of the altar, facing East. (They’re reversed now, see? Ain’t that just cool?)

Facing each other, they now both make the Sign of the Rending of the Veil, crying ABRAHADABRA!

They trace the Mark of the Beast in the air above the altar, give the L.V.X signs, and make the Sign of the Enterer, their hands finding their way to the oil lamp upon the altar.

Together they raise the one lamp into the air, and cry:

Hear Me!

AFT ABAFT BAS-AUMGN ISAK SA-BA-FT IAF

This is the Lord of the Gods. This is the Lord of the Universe: This is He Whom the Winds fear. This is He, Who having made Voice by His Commandment is Lord of All Things; King, Ruler and Helper.

Hear Me, and make all Sprits subject unto Me: so that every Sprit of the Firmament and of the Ether: upon the Earth and under the Earth: on dry Land and in the Water: of whirling Air and of rushing Fire: and every Spell and Scourge of God may be obedient unto Me.

They set down the lamp.

Together they make the Sign of the Closing of the Veil, crying ABRAHADABRA!

They trace the Mark of the Beast in the air above the altar, and give the L.V.X signs

Together: Hear Me! IEOU PUR IOU PUR IAFTh IAEO IOOU ABRASAX SABRIAM OO FF AD-ON-A-I EDE EDU ANGELOS TON ThEON ANLALA LAI GAIA AEPA DIAThANNA ThORON

Now whirling deosil opposite each other about the altar, they cry together:

I am He (Laylah says She in all these cases)! The Bornless Spirit! Having sight in the feet: Strong, and the Immortal Fire! I am He/She! the Truth! I am He/She! Who hate that evil should be wrought in the World! I am He/She, that lighteneth and thudereth! I am He/She, from whom is the Shower of the Life of Earth! I am He/She, whose mouth ever flameth! I am He/She, the Begetter and Manifester unto the Light! I am He/She, the Grace of the World!

Laylah and Ra-Hoor stop whirling now, finding their places. Ra-Hoor back at the West of altar, facing East. Laylah at the East of the altar, facing West.

Together: “The Heart Girt with a Serpent” is My Name!

Come Thou forth, and follow Me: and make all Sprits subject unto Me: so that every Spirit of the Firmament and of the Ether: upon the Earth and under the Earth: on dry Land or in the Water: of whirling air or of rushing Fire: and every Spell and Scourge of God may be obedient unto Me!

IAF! SABAF! Such are the Words!!

VIDEO CUE: As many images of Aleister Crowley as one can collect are now rapidly flashing in strobe fashion on the screen AUDIO CUE: Sixth Loop is now begun (lively CHAOTIC TRIBAL RHYTHMIC NOISE)

Therion, Hadit, Babalon, and Nuit rise from their thrones, and come to the central altar, forming a hexagram, all facing in toward the center.

Ra-Hoor in the West, Therion in the NorthEast, Hadit in the SouthEast, are the descending Red Triangle. Laylah in the East, Nuit in the NorthWest, Babalon in the SouthWest, are the ascending Blue Triangle.

MUSICAL CUE: A tribal rhythmic churning groove. Dark and aggressive.

All six operants join hands in a circle, with their arms crossed, right over left, and the circle turns deosil.

People’s Officer now rises from his seat and encourages all present to stand and whirl deosil as well, thus an ecstatic circumambulation has begun.

A.’.C.’. and Aiwass remain in their places. They at this point are the only anchor to reality, if everything has gone well.

MUSICAL CUE: This should go on for as long as it takes to reach peak energy. The music should gradually intensify and when peak is near, get more and more DISCORDANT, CHAOTIC, OUT OF TIME, OUT OF TUNE, SCARY, WRONG, APESHIT, whatever!!! What I’m saying is WILLFULLY TRAINWRECK THE MOTHERFUCKER, PLEASE! But don’t do it too soon! This will be everyone’s cue to drop to the ground.

VIDEO CUE: Darkness. [[[SILENCE!!]]]

All present excepting the human sculpture and Laylah and Ra-Hoor drop to the ground at this signal, sending their intent into the floor of the Temple.

Laylah and Ra-Hoor together walk to the writing desk, take the single-sheet Liber AL back to the central altar. Laylah in place in the East, Ra-Hoor in the West. They face each other.

As they do this, Therion, Babalon, Nuit, and Hadit return to their thrones.

(this all takes place very slowly)

Together Laylah and Ra-Hoor cry: BAHLASTI! OMPEHDA! I spit on your crapulous creeds!

They light Liber AL in the flame of the oil lamp and throw the ash into the cauldron of intoxicant.

AUDIO CUE: back to Second Loop MUSICAL CUE: Low gong drones.

Ra-Hoor, haughtily, laughs and begins wandering amongst the congregants, begins to chant O LION AND O SERPENT THAT DESTROY THE DESTROYER BE MIGHTY AMONG US, repeatedly.

After 6 repititions, Laylah joins in, followed by the rest of the chief operants.

People’s Officer now joins in, encouraging the other congregants to do so.

Ra-Hoor continues to wander about the congregants, getting more and more antagonistic. Nuit and Hadit now rise from their thrones and circle him in his arrogance. They reach him. Nuit gets behind him, Hadit in front. Hadit energetically attacks him with a single blow to the chest, winding him and knocking him down. Nuit catches his fall and sets him on the ground. This takes place in the space between the central altar and the super-altar.

Hidden within the central altar is a black cloth, Laylah covers him with it. She takes her place to the West of the altar, facing East.

Therion and Babalon now rise from their altars and kneel by the slain operant. Together with Nuit and Hadit, they keep watch over him.

People’s Officer opens the scrim that veils the super-altar. One by One he takes a glass from the super-altar and hands it to the congregants who in their turn approach the central altar, where Laylah pours the intoxicant into their glass. They then return to their seat.

NONE DRINK FROM THEIR GOBLETS JUST YET!!
