Library Committee goals of Sekhet-Maat Lodge for the common year 2008.

Values

• Taking care of and being responsible for the library.
• The Library is an extensive study aid and resource for our initiates.
• The microfilm collection is available at all times for our initiates.
• Open hours provide initiates and the public an opportunity to use our library.
• The Reference library available to all members.
• The membership values the library and makes frequent donations to it.

Vision

The Library Committee will make available a concise and organized selection of books, periodicals, a/v recordings, microfilm, and other materials for initiates and the public to encourage growth in Knowledge and Understanding among all who visit the Lodge.

Goals for 2008

Goal: Provide a class to the general membership/public regarding the contents of the microfilm collection as well as the process for its use and the upcoming checkout system. (It was suggested that this happen soon)

Current Status: No progress yet.

Discussion:

Regarding doing this soon, the priority is cataloging the remaining books by the end of 2007 and putting the catalog online.

Goal: Complete labeling and sorting of all books.

Discussion:

Can be done at same time as "culling."

Goal: Provide regular updates of acquisitions to the library in L&S, on the wiki, and in email

Current Status: In communication with Fr. Samekh ben Shahar about this. The cataloging software provides the date the material is checked in, so the editor should be able to check that to determine what has been added recently.

Goal: Create Amazon wish list for not only the library, possibly encouraging additions of wish list items for the rest of the lodge as well. It was suggested to ask if it can be embedded on SML site.

Discussion:

Use Powells with our associate ID so we get a cut and money comes to the local economy. Put into the wiki, by updating as is already done in library section at: Wish list. If you want to embed the library part somewhere or just link to it let me know and I'll show you how. - JT

Goal: Obtain out of print volumes of Red Flame for inclusion into the reference section of the library if availability and budgeting provide possible.

Goal: Cull the library of books that are less useful to initiates to provide the best possible selection within the space we have.

Have a giveaway afterward so people can get them before Goodwill. - JT

Goal: Provide a list of all texts recommended for study in our study guides that the library does not yet contain.
