About the Workshop
Respect, gratitude and love for the ancestors are essential aspects of most shamanic or indigenous cultures. Many of us in Western, industrialized cultures, however, live with a feeling of disconnection from our ancestral inheritance and lack a framework for drawing on the support and vitality of the ancestors.
Although the word "ancestors" can mean many things, the focus of this workshop will be our relationships with our blood ancestors. This includes but is not limited to those remembered by the living. We will begin to forge strong alliances with our ancestors to promote healing of family relationships, transform dysfunctional patterns, and revitalize our biological selves.
This is a two-day, intermediate level workshop facilitated by Daniel Foor, and will include practices such as prayer, shamanic journey-work, storytelling, and creative expression. People of all backgrounds and ethnicities are welcome including those with no prior knowledge of their ancestors. Minimal preparations are expected including inquiry into and reflection on family history. Daniel is also available both for individual in-person or distance sessions and for travel to other locations to facilitate ancestral healing work.
Schedule
- Friday October 26 — Reception begins at 7:30pm
- Saturday October 27 — Day One from 9:00am until 6:00pm
- Sunday October 28 — Day Two from 9:00am until 1:00pm
About the Reception
The reception is an informal social gathering open to all workshop attendees, Sekhet-Maat Lodge members and affiliates, and their guests. Available will be a feast of a substantial selection of hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages. You'll also find micro-brews and wines for purchase.
About Daniel Foor
Daniel (website) has studied shamanism and diverse ceremonial ways for over a decade, and holds degrees in religious studies and counseling psychology. He is of mixed English, German, and Irish descent and is not claiming to represent a specific indigenous/tribal lineage besides perhaps that of his own rowdy European ancestors. He leads weekend workshops, regular ceremonies, and individual sessions in the San Francisco Bay Area to help people restore positive relations with their ancestors.
