Values

The self creation and manifestation of our Temple.

• Our central location for members enabling it to be the focal point of our work

Vision Statement

The Facilities Committee exists to maintain and improve the utility and beauty of the facility for the purpose of performing the rituals with joy and beauty so that we may promulgate the Law of Thelema.

Goal: Put up black curtain wings, black fabric on partition and replace yellow curtains.

Current Status: Goal for 2009 ev

• Sr. Story is currently working on scheduling this in two parts. First part will be to sew/hang the "wing" curtains. Second part will be to get an approved budget for replacement of yellow curtains and then schedule that.
• FYI, the budget for replacement of the yellow curtains should only include the hardware, we are recycling black fabric for this, so no need to purchase anything. --Misskim 15:18, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

October, 2008 ev

Goal: Paint kitchen, office, and railings.

Current Status: Complete

• Discussion with JP and others, Kitchen needs cleaning and NOT repainting. Office and railings of course still do need to be painted.
• Kitchen walls cleaned.

• I acquired materials needed to paint the metal railings and have scheduled the time to do the work on the calendar for July 17th & 18th. --09:31, 5 July 2008 (PST), Fr. אין סוף אור
• With the help of John, Ivey and Ken, we sanded, primed and painted the metal hand railing which took roughly 22 hours broken up over 7 days. In the process an electric hand sander was purchased and donated to the lodge. Much thanks to everyone who helped with this. Goal: Provide storage for lances and swords.

• Sr. Story found and implemented the perfect solution: a yard tool rack.

Goal: Provide storage for artwork and change art hanging process (hardware).

Current Status: Stalled

• Considering the idea of using the space above the bathroom for storage. This would require putting in a "floor" above the bathroom, and dowels placed vertically. Third-party professional art storage is also a possibility. --Fr. HydraLVX
• Hanging art will be simple but possibly expensive. A couple of possibilities, wooden molding or a professional gallery hanging system, are being considered. --Fr. HydraLVX
• I need measurements for the area above the bathroom to determine how much it would cost for wood to put a ceiling on it as well as the dowels for the art storage. --15:23, 8 March 2008 (PST), Fr. אין סוף אור
• The measurements for the area above the bathroom are 5'x9'x54". I found that they only make 4'x8' boards and a 5'x9' board would be special order. I think that the 4'x8' would work out for our needs though. It costs about $20 for the 4'x8' board, $3.50 per 36" dowel and $1.00 for two double-sided wood screws. • This goal has bifurcated:
• Frs. IOI and Pangloss are working on the next steps in the art storage project.

Goal: Frame Tree of Life poster, create Lost & Found sign, and fire/water shelf signs.

• Have replaced the poster itself as the old one was marked up and old. In budgeting for matting and frame. Lost and found sign is created, need to hang.

Goal: Replace / improve lighting in temple.

Current Status: Stalled

• Electrical considerations: Although there is massive wattage coming into the building, enough to power lights for a rock concert, we are not wired to take advantage of this, at all, and so we sometimes have to be careful not to break a circuit in using kitchen appliances, space heaters, or the like. With the temple lighting in particular, the wattage drawn from the existing fixtures is slightly above what the light switch is designed to handle, so it causes the light switch to produce a bit of heat. --Fr. • We are exploring conversion to CFBs, LEDs, or any other low-wattage lighting (see below also), which has the potential to circumvent the need for an electrician. It's important to have a rich spectrum of light though, for the viewing of art inside the Lodge, the comfort of our eyes, and to offset those dreary winter days with no sun. --Fr. HydraLVX

Goal: Replace / improve sound system.

Goal: Continue to improve usefulness and beauty of Kitchen.

• Fr. Khabs Kaos has discussed with Br. RW and the current pass-through will come in under budget and will allow for more shelves in the kitchen area. Fr. KK and Sr. AM will plan a field trip to Ikea to discuss further options.

• I purchased pot hangers for the kitchen and donated them to the Lodge. They need to be hung up in an appropriate place, which I asked Fr. Khabs Kaos to do so that they are in a convenient location. --12:50, 16 December 2008 (PST), Fr. אין סוף אור

Goal: Manage the painting and hanging of new ceiling banners.

• This has been done and undone several times as we have needed to take down the banners for various other projects. 3 banners are now down and need to be put back up. Goal: Ensure that the consumables inventory is continually monitored and stocked.

• Sr. Hanashi has a current listing of consumables and will be working to find the best implementation process.

• Need to determine if there is somebody who regularly shows up for lodge cleaning and is detail oriented so-as to be a good fit for this. The other potential option is to choose somebody each time at the beginning of lodge cleaning. --Fr. אין סוף אור

  • Done. Made listing of items in lodge to be replaced to provide for more efficient use of space and aesthetic.
• March 1

Goal: Inspect and maintain facility for needed maintenance on monthly basis.

• Fr. IOI has a schedule for checking maintenance and will report all items in need of work to Fr. אין סוף אור.
• Wood flooring under carpet needs to be repaired as it is lifting up. =Goal for 2009 ev
• One of the latches on the windows needs to be fixed.
• Battery for clock needs to be replaced. I purchased batteries today and will replace them tonight. --16:10, 15, April 2008 (PST), Fr. אין סוף אור
• I used some industrial strength glue to glue the velcro back onto the red mass curtains where needed. I also bought more batteries for the clocks and replaced the batteries for the clock in the kitchen. There is a request to acquire a new clock for the one in the classroom because it seems to be broken. • Several of these tasks encompass larger project work and will turn into goals for next year. The tear on the bench has been patched. The veils around the altar were taken down and checked but found that it was not coming apart, it just looked like it was from some fraying. Metal carpet trim has been purchased and will be at the Lodge in the near future to be put in place. Goal: Appoint a green inspector to propose changes to make the Lodge more environmentally friendly.

• Compiled itemized list of points to address, principally focused on replacing existing toxic materials used for cleaning and such with non- or less-toxic substitutes and identifying ways of reducing energy usage. --Pangloss 2008-08-19

Goal: Touch up red paint on temple electrical outlets and curtains (and/or pin them together)

• One coating of paint touch up has happened, including fixing/painting the new damage done to the wall due to the falling partition. Research is being done on the best way to velcro/fix the curtains together.

Goal: Finish painting exterior with stencils.

Current Status: Goal for 2009 ev

• Next Step: Aquire OTO lamen stencil for bay doors.
• We have another possibility to get these done very inexpensively by a friend of the Lodge who has skill and experience with making stencils. --Fr. ΝΘΛΜΚΜΝΡΓ 17:59, 6 September 2008 (PDT)
• Having a second option, and subsequent discussion, for the stencils has caused delay in getting this done. Handmade stencil would be more difficult to put on (including potentially removing the bay doors for horizontal painting), which defeats the original purpose of having stencils that can be easily re-painted if/when we are tagged. This brought up the suggestion to put a layer of lacquer on top, that we could just sand off & re-lacquer when we get tagged. All fine and dandy, but now we are in the rainy season and nothing has been done. Need to discuss options with Fr. אין סוף אור and get the ball moving again. --Fr.
