Call for Submissions to “Lion & Serpent”

Dear Brothers, Sisters, and Friends,

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

As we close in on the end of the year and life once again begins to wrest itself from winter’s grasp, it’s time to start putting together a new issue of Lion & Serpent. I’d like to share with you a couple of new goals we’ve set for the coming year. In the past year that I’ve served as the editor for L&S, I’ve been impressed by the quality and quantity of creative works generated by our community. We’ve been able to continue the tradition of using L&S to showcase our eclectic culture by publishing very fine research, creative pieces, ritual, and visual art that reflects myriad facets of Sekhet-Maat Lodge and the broader Thelemic community in Portland.

Some people have added to their long history of contribution to our journal by offering still more pieces to publish; others have made their very first of hopefully many more submissions. This year I would like to see each of these directions taken a step further. To further diversify the material, we have set a goal of attracting submissions from six new contributors over the next four quarterly issues. Conversely, in order to encourage persistence, we have another goal of establishing one more regular written column that will have an installment in each issue. We hope to use these goals as fuel to drive us toward increasing the quality of our publication and likewise to encourage our community’s members to apply the fervency of desire and the discipline of attention to connect with and share that which demands creation.

Now is the time to finish up that essay on the hidden influence of Aleister Crowley in the work of Gilles Deleuze, or to submit a proposal to write a “Conversations with Choronzon” advice column, or send a chapter excerpt from the novel you’re writing. Or maybe you have new artwork that you think would make an arresting cover. Send it in now!

Submission deadline is Sol in 0° Pisces (February 18th). The issue release date is the vernal equinox, Sol in 0° Aries. Please check out the details and submission guidelines at:
